This policy explains how the Lummis Elementary PTO ("the PTO," "we," "us") collects, uses, and protects information from visitors to lummispto.com and from parents, guardians, staff, and community members who sign up for our email newsletter or text (SMS) updates. It applies to this website and to our email and SMS communications sent through Mailchimp.
We collect information you choose to give us directly, such as when you sign up for our newsletter, join the PTO, or contact us. This may include:
Our website host (Cloudflare) may also log standard technical information automatically, like IP address and browser type, for security and performance purposes. We do not use this information to identify individual visitors.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Signing up for our email newsletter and signing up for text updates are separate choices — checking one does not sign you up for the other. Each requires its own opt-in.
Text messages (SMS): By opting in to text updates, you agree to receive automated text messages from the Lummis Elementary PTO about events, meetings, and volunteer needs at the mobile number you provide. Consent to receive texts is not a condition of PTA membership or of any purchase. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies, but you can expect no more than a few messages per month. Reply STOP at any time to opt out, or HELP for help. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Email: Every newsletter email includes an unsubscribe link. You can opt out of email updates at any time by clicking that link, and we'll stop emailing you promptly.
We keep a record of how and when you gave consent, as required by applicable law.

We keep your information only as long as needed to send the communications you've opted into, or until you ask us to remove it. We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.
This website and our email/text updates are intended for parents, guardians, staff, and other adults in the Lummis Elementary community — not for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information without a parent or guardian's involvement, contact us and we'll remove it.
We may update this policy from time to time as our programs or tools change. We'll update the effective date above when we do.
